Susie Samuels

Susie was born, raised, and educated in north Texas. Her father was an architect and played a major role in cultivating her passion for design.  She recieved her BFA in Interior Design from University of North Texas and began working in commercial interior design, construction, and space planning in Texas, Michigan, and Virginia. After years in the commericial industry Susie has narrowed her focus on residential interior design & remodeling of kitchens and master bathrooms. She has a proven design process that always involves the general contractor from the beginning phase of the project.  She considers herself as an artist & avid story teller. "Interior design is my medium and through beautiful, thoughful design, I tell my client’s story."

CAPS

I began my career in commercial interior design and space planning and was employed by a large information technology company building their corporate headquarters when the ADA (American Disabilities Act) became law. This new criteria revolutionized the way I looked at space planning and design. So, years later, when it became necessary for me to have foot surgery, following an injury, I was reminded of the importance of accessibility & safety in a very personal way.

I became a Certified Aging in Place Specialist designer because of the tremendous need for people to be safe and secure in the home that they raised their kids in, for as long as possible. Accessibility is important for the residents of the home, their children, grandchildren, and visitors. Whether it is permanent or temporary, a skiing accident or a degenerative condition, that brings this need to mind. When is an attractive accessible home not a great idea? Being a CAPS designer working with a CAPS contractor allows me to provide attractive design with a specific purpose and add value to my clients property beyond the remodel.
